The Marriott is a wonderful hotel South of the Han River in Seoul. It is definitely first class with the only drawback being the distance to the great centers of nightlife in Seoul. I stayed here my first night in Korea and felt almost spoiled. Great views of downtown, a huge room with a bathroom bigger than some apartments I've lived in, easy access to the subway, and much more. I was jet lagged and beat from the long trip from Pennsylvania, but this was a relaxing as I could expect after the long trip.
Unique Qualities: This hotel has a great view of the Han River and Seoul Tower to the north.

If you are in Seoul with business in Itaewan, the Hyatt is a great option for you. It has a great location in Itaewan-2-dong, close enough to the shopping and restaurants, but high enough up the hill to avoid Itaewan's sleaze factor. The area immediately around the Hyatt has some very high class restaurants and boutiques for the fashion-conscious. Namsan is also just a short walk to the north if you want some exercise. The hotel itself offers a good variety of restaurants (including a fantastic buffet, as well as Korean, Japanese, and European restaurants). J.J. Mahoney's is a very famous nightspot in Seoul for drinking and dancing. Room prices range from 200,000 Won (~US$200) to 500,000 Won (~US$500).

arschaaf Mon Jul 14, 2008 06:25 UTC Not to mention the "All you can eat AND all you can drink" buffet that happens 6-10pm (except Sundays) at the Gangnam location. Call ahead to reserve. The beer is actually good too! | volopolo Fri Jun 20, 2008 19:30 UTC Excellent page about Seoul! | xxgirasolexx Thu May 29, 2008 15:37 UTC What? Why is kimchi listed in the "con" section? KIMCHI IS THE BEST! | atufft Sat May 17, 2008 17:55 UTC Now, rereading, I'd like to see photos of some of those huge Christian Churches, some of the world's largest Christian congregations I understand. In fact, I understand that their are more Presbyterians in Korea than in the USA! |
