We stayed 2 nights in this marvelous historic hotel, said to have been hosting guests since 1559! The restaurant was a quaint dining room with a simple menu of local dishes, decor was period all throughout, very nice lodgings in a fascinating walled city.

From an alley

While we took the obligatory scheduled walking tours both day and night, in between (and the next day) we wandered the town inside and outside the walls on our own, taking side streets to out of the way places. Here are unadorned back sides of elaborately restored historic buildings (in front and inside, at least).

Annual Children's Christmas Parade

During our wanderings, we decided to dine at a cafe on the main square and we found that we had front row seats for the Christmas Children's Parade that the town throws every year! Watched parents fussing with their kids, lighting their lanterns, buttoning their coats, lining them up. Around us sat proud family members delighting in their children on parade and singing. What fun!

• Cons:None - 2 nights were enough for this town
