"Paris, France" France by 6mirror

While staying with a friend in Viersen, Germany, we booked two cheap nights at a hotel that turned out to be by the airport, 45 minutes from Paris by crowded train. But the weather in December was gorgeous and we were well entertained along the way, to and from the hotel, each day.

Visited Galeries Lafayette with unexpected treat!

Of course we did the usual touristy things, being the first time ever in Paris: the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, Paris Opera House, various monuments, etc., and nearby Versailles. But mostly we were on foot between Metro stops, taking in everyday sights and sounds and fabulous food of the city. (Wanted to dine at Maxim's just to say we did but the boys traveling with us had no ties, so we "settled" for Minim's next door, yum!)

Absolutely lovely on a clear night! Once again I had researched this area prior to arriving here and saw only one third of points of interest that I wanted to see before nightfall in December. But night time in Paris takes on a whole other face of the city!

• Pros:SOOO much to see in this city!
• Cons:Two full days is NOT enough time! Next time: lodging IN Paris!
• In a nutshell:Could easily spend a month in Paris alone!
