PARIS

I first came upon this city by chance in 1972 while living in Madrid. A group of youngs decided to take a curiosity trip to the Eternal Paris of Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider in the The Last Tango in Paris. well it has been a virus of wonderful proportions, now my blog is name after it paris1972. And I became French !!! I am sure that once you come here you will get infected too,and then we can trade tips on what is better here at VT ::)

The photo is taken from the north tower at Cathédrale de Notre Dame over looking the spiral tower of the Sainte Chapelle ,the vert galant gardens and the Seine river. Paris is a movable feast!

And many had said it; here is just one!

I love Paris in the spring time
I love Paris in the fall
I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles
I love Paris in the summer when it sizzles
I love Paris every moment
Every moment of the year
I love Paris, why, oh why do I love Paris
Because my love is here
I love Paris every moment
Every moment of the year
I love Paris, why, oh why do I love Paris
Because my love is here
She’s there, she’s everywhere
But she’s really here.

-Cole Porter

Place de la Concorde

One of the best symbols of Paris, the wonderful mythical pl de la concorde. It used to be the Place Royale, or royal plaza, then after the French revolution it was called Pl de la Revolution or revolution plaza and then on the reconciliation of the French people it was call as now Place de la Concorde or undertanding or agreement plaza really
This is today the view from Crillon to the fountain, obelisk, assamblée nationale (palais de Bourbon) and back the Invalides.

According to the French business journal Les Echos, the Tour Eiffel will close this morning as the employees will protest the surge in pickpockets around the tower. These thieves comes in 3-4 and even fight with each other for the turf. Be careful in the tower when visiting.

According to Le Parisien Paris paper, another project by the Major Anne Hidalgo is to make the Voie Pompidou along the Seine pedestrians , no cars by summer of 2016. It will have instead floating markets and amusement for families. The ideas put forward are either closing the stretch from châtelet to Pont de Sully or the whole voie georges pompidou between the Tuileries and Port de l'Arsenal. Of course needs approval by Paris city council and many oppositions but this is the plan of the mayor now. Stay tune.

The statue of Napoléon 1er has been restored and now back at the Cour d’honneur des Invalides. It was originally done from melted bronze from canons taken from the enemy in 1805.
