Pondi is pontivy in Breton, part of the canal Nantes Brest passes by city center here, great inland destination for boating. Also great history in the Rohan of Brittany, the castle is great.
a bit of its history
the leyend says that Pontivy was founded in the 7th C, by its patron saint ,the breton monk Ivi. History made it successfully capital of the viscount then dukedom of Rohan, strong site of the Protestant breton, major participant in the French revolution. A new town in central Brittany during Napoléon and the Empire from 1804.
Pontivy is in Brittany bretonesque, where it is spoken the Vannetais, one of four dialect of the peninsula with those of Cornouaille, Léon ,and Trégor. The flag is of Rohan since 1698 as a symbol of the city.
The Château de Pontivy (also call Château des Rohan) was built in the 14 to 16C by the family de Rohan. The first one that built it was the viscount Jean II de Rohan, son in law of the opposing Duke de Bretagne François II, and was the governor of Brittany for king Charles VIII
going around the castle on the back there is a road where you can see the castle from the back nice shot.
- Pros:The Rohan is the history of Brittany and al
- Cons:none
- In a nutshell:The Rohan of Brittany is all over, great castle
