Porto Moniz is the classic place that I would avoid in summer time, when it gets too crowded of tourists. However, in winter time I found it a lonely but charming place to wander for a while, especially with this dark blue sky and rough sea.
When tourists leave, Porto Moniz turns again into a quiet village and it is a good place to see a little bit of local life. It is also a good base camp to do some interesting hikes around.
