**Under Construction!!**
Despite the impression I had of Berlin -- a gloomy, depressive town -- I found it very interesting and with lots of history behind. It's unbelievable that it started being a real "city" less than 10 years ago, as the Americans left until 1994 (even though the Wall was torn down in 1989). The division of West and East Berlin was very visible the first years, but now it has almost disappeared. You can't tell the east from the west that easily anymore. Berlin has been rebuilt and modernized, but still keeps some of its old and beautiful buildings, most of which have been refurbished or rebuilt after big fires or after the World War bombings.
There are a lot of things to see around Berlin, so I hope I can give you some useful tips. In this picture you can see the Reichstag (the German Parliament) which is now working again after many years of not doing so and has been modernized quite a bit. |
