Backpacking in Vietnam is mentally taxing due to the inability of most of the locals to talk in English. Riding transportation, buying souvenirs, choosing a nice meal at restaurants and many others seem to be very difficult due to this large barrier.

The best thing we did was to instead book a one day tour to the City so we can explore Ho Chi Minh without the puzzling charades weve been doing just to close the gap in our dialects.

The limited number of money changers with good rates is also an obstacle for us in enjoying with our one day stop at Ho Chi Minh. So I suggest you change enough cash before you leave the airport.
