  • The central market is the largest one in BUDAPEST, the most attractive and expensive as well, built in 1890 and restored in 1994. Two floors split the market in two so crowded by tourist. souvenir, gift shops and some local food restaurants are on the second floor, while the market strictly speaking is in the ground floor, the toilet as well where u have to pay ...

Budapest's largest and grandest market hall was opened in 1897. Sale is done on a area of 10,000 sq.m under a huge iron structure. The programme of foreign diplomatic delegations often includes a visit here. Since restored to its original glory in 1994, it is well worth a visit

  • St Margaret Island is a green oasis in the city where people walk run jog, play kids or simply sit on a bench...its like the main european or north american great city parks
You can take a tram and get down in the middle of the bridge (Margit hid) and cross the road by an underground passage
the park is just in the middle of the river so you get excellent views to the city and the riverside buildings

Just like a historical remark i want to explain that this bridge was collapsed 4th Nov 1944 when Wermacht (military nazi police) destoryed it accidentally when they weregetting to resist the russian attack, installing mines under the bridge...it explode suffering hundreds of woundeds and deaths

  • A Paradise in fall when all the leafs are droping down and some trees resists the cold season others surrender to it
I remember walking by a mud path looking how hundreds and hundreds of yellow leafs were flying down ..it was so lovely !!

The garden is 2.5km large and an average of 500m wide. it gets a sort of everuthing , zoo park, restaurants, spa's, former small church. Yuo have to walk or ride because cars are not allowed, but its better this way absolutelly

  • Closer to Keleti train station i went to an open air market where if i have to be frank i guess almost 90% of whole stuff there are stolen from shops, markets, wherever you can imagine..yes really..its great to move inside..it was on saturday morning and we took the street from keleti (Verseny and then györgy just in front Puskas ferenc stadiom... its quite huge and be aware from pickpockets so dont go there with visible expensive stuff

one of th emost peculiar stuff was a lot of Lenin and comunist pins that shock with others that make reference to vote bush and Cheney lol

David, thanks for the excellent info on about everything to be seen in Budapest. I also enjoyed a visit, amazing how 2 people see a city differently. Maybe a youth view point as against an "old "person's interest.haha. Great to meet the locals.
