Plaza de Mayo, Goverment House, el Cabildo The Cathedral, etc.: Casa Rosada
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: One of the main attractions in Buenos Aires is la Casa Rosada ...the government place and so weird at first sight pink like it is !!!
Located behind Plaza Colon its one of the best spots to start a day in the city...there are places like Puerto Madero, Obelisco, Corrientes boulevard closer to it and ..the City where all locals have their offices and mostly banks are

    The National Congress: Congreso
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Located at the end of Avenida de Mayo its a lush green square full of trees and gardens where people use to have a bite there or feed pigeons.... Walking by Av Mayo you find the Congreso sq at the end of it... a huge and rectangular square where the main building is at the end as waiting for u .. more or less like Bucharest Parliament ...but nicer !!! lol
After crossing Callao Avenue you are in front of it ...a real huge and spectacular building built in 1906 inspired in Washington DC capitol..
After visit the square as the most sold guides talk about the best option is take the subte and come back to the center ....WRONG idea !!!!

As i try to do always ....looking in hidden nooks or unknown places i kept on walking ahead by Rivadavia Boulevard where there is the Congreso subte stop.... i walked for 4 blocks and turn left to see the Plaza 1? de Mayo ...a little bit disapointed but i could notice other kinda neighbourhood... like a workers one who go to the city to work and come back at evening...the architecture was quite different to other neighbourhoods and most revelaled some blocks further .... !! it wasnt spectacular but different !! ...worth to visit if u have time ....called Balvanera and san Cristobal neigbourhoods

    La Boca: La Boca
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Located in the southern part of the city ..La Boca is one of the most famous places in Buenos Aires....famous for this football team and for the colourfull buildings....where the tango was born and for this poverty as well
Some scary some attractive ...just depend what time u'll visit it ...la boca offers several amazing views

San Telmo: Plaza Dorrego and surroundings
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: San Telmo is my favourite neighbourhood in Buenos Aires..perhaps it reminded mi clearly to Gracia quarter in Barcelona......the streets ..squares like Dorrego ...were so similar and really nice to stroll at twilight....Dorrego square is quite touristic place but at the same time so much cosy that makes you feel really really well...this was my feeling there for 3 times as i went...

    Recoleta: Plaza Francia
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: One of the best spots in Buenos Aires.....!!! it is some huge gardens closer to the famous Recoleta graveyard... the best attraction are in sunday afternoon when there are live music (rock) ... traditional handicraft stalls, capoeira dancers and hulk practicers...all per free... i enjoyed a lot there....this was one of the best moments in buenos aires

    El Obelisco: Obelisco
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Such a beauty ...amazing...spectacular at first sight and could be seen from the 4 ends of 9 de julio Avenue and southern part of Corrientes boulevars and 20 blocks upwards ....The place is Plaza de la Republica that "robe" the name for a while to the huge 9 de Julio Avenue... the widest on the world....

    Belgrano: Barracas de Belgrano
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: This is the opposite part to La Boca or San Telmo or others ...actually Buenos Aires is split in two under my point of view ... North and South ....the southern neighbourhoods are dirtier and poorer meanwhile from microcentro upwards you will find Palermo, Recoleta, Belgrano, Nuñez ... where the richest preople live...or not poor like Boca and surroundings neighbourhoods
This pic is Barracas de Belgrano a superb gardens amidst Cabildo avenue, Libertador Avenue and Monroy ... the quarter is so calmed and harmless, people walk easily ..and at all afraid as you do in other quarters southwards

    Florida Street: Plaza San Martin
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: huge garden in the city closer to Retiro (train and bus station) and the end of Florida pedestrian street...just in the middle there is the monument in memoriam to San Martin general army..and in the opposite the street run down to Retiro station and the square in front of where the local buses stops

Puerto Madero and Catalina's: Puerto Madero
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: This place is the old harbour now reconvert like leisure place crowded of chic restaurants and terraces but keeping the huge crane towers destinated to empty the load ships
Its located closer to Plaza de Mayo just "two blocks" behind it croosing Av de la Rabida ...(5 minutes walking). And its a suggestive place to visit and take a meal or just a coffee ...besides beneath one of the big towers there is the inforation touristic point

    Retiro: Retiro
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: its a link...this place is a big square full of small buses stops that run to other neighbourhood and municipalities outside Capital (as locals known Buenos Aires city), places like Quilmes.. Avellaneda, Florencio Varela.... place at all touristic but absolutelly different to yhe capital ...Also it contains the main train station to the north and a omnibus main station ...buses run to every place in Argentina from here
you can get there using the subte line C ..be careful at evening because this isnt a suggestive place to walk

re, Perla, what I always do in my travels: Get a non-English menu off a table from the back of the restaurant. Now the prices are REAL! Keep the menu until you get the bill if you want to compare. And if you are good at it, the menu becomes a souvenir.

Yes, they loose their lives because of the stupid politicians and the stupid Americans that help England when they where loosin the war.

for the ppl seeing this page I´d like to disagree on that BS AS is dangerous or polluted. compared to big european cities like madrid or paris it is very calm and clean. and it is not good for just a few days cause it´s too big and interesting. .
