Elegance, culture, history and the river words that can describe Savannah.

Savannah is certainly one of Georgia's and the South most elegant cities. Savannah has long attracted the attention of many visitors that come to visit this town. Savannah is known as a town to have its own unique character. Just as every city, some parts of Savannah are in poverty and other parts including the downtown area are blessed with some of the most beautiful homes and buildings you may have ever seen in your life. And did you know that part of the movie Forest Gump was made in Savannah Georgia?

The historic district of Savannah consist out of 24 squares surrounded by elegant 19th century homes and businesses. The squares have all been refurbished recently. All of the squares are actually parks most of them having a unique touch to it such as a fountain or a historic monument. North of Savannah's downtown district is the Savannah river. It is very likely that the city of Savannah will expand North of the river. The construction of Westin hotel and a brand new conference center accross the river has confirmed the city's ambition.

In contrast to Atlanta, Savannah is better known as Slow-vannah as locals speak slowly, drive slowy and eat slowly. Many blame this on the high humidity. Another contrast to Atlanta is the slower expansion rate of metro Savannah. Whenever you visit Georgia or Atlanta take a few days to visit Savannah. Savannah is elegant and classy and has a lot of history.

I hope you enjoy the rest of my Savannah page.

Savannah Georgia, has many photogenic sites including the City Hall of Savannah.

Much of the homes in the historic city center of Savannah date back from the 18th and 19th century. The homes are very elegant and rather expensive.
