Bali is Indonesia's wealthiest providence. Bali country of rice terraces, mountains, lakes, rivers, beaches, orchids, surf and last but not least endless smiles. Yes, Bali has some of the friendliest and sociable people I have ever met in my life. Though Bali is one of Indonesia's wealthiest providence, most of its citizens still live primitively especially in the country side, so most of its citizens still live in poor conditions.

The country is blessed with beautiful mountains, Mnt Agung being the highest active volcano located East on the island. Bali is basically flat in the southern part and extremely mountainous in the Central to Northern part of the island. Bali is not Hawaii in which you can expect high rise hotels, as matter of fact it is not allowed to build buildings higher than a palm tree in Bali. Balinese people love to socialize, they are people that often approach you for a chat. They are people that remember you and go into deep conversations. Try to say hello in Indonesian and you will note that Balinese people are delighted when you speak some words in Indonesian to them. You will note that most of Denpasar, Kuta resort area, Nusa Dua resort area and Sanur resort area are commercialized a bit westernized. Other resort areas such as Padangbai and Candi Dasa are small cozy resort villages mainly catered for those seeking relaxation and want to get away from the tourist crowds.

Bali is an island catered to all types of tourist whether you want action, water sports, hiking, mountain climbing, rafting, site seeing or if you would like to just rest and relax yourself. It is not the beauty of the country that surprised me, but the friendliness of its people, for a country that receives 2.4 million visitors a year, Balinese are still to friendly and the people are to the most extent unspoiled.
