Strasbourg is a beautiful city just over the border in the Alsace region of France. Historically, this region has been tossed back and forth between Germany and France as political leaders use it as a pawn. Thus, it is a unique region of France that has many German influences (or should I say the parts of nearby Germany have many French influences?). Today, politically Strasbourg is the home of the European Parliament and many diplomats come to this city for business. But the old city is still the best part of town with its magnificent cathedral, awesome architecture, and, of course, French bakeries (can you smell the baguettes?).

Hubby and I have visited Strasbourg several times and I am hoping to return at least once during the Christmas season to visit its Christmas market. Not far from our home, it is a place that makes a nice get-away for a weekend or overnighter. We’ve also used it as a stop-over on our way to other regions in Germany, France, or nearby Switzerland. The city has lots to offer visitors, especially on sunny spring and summer days when the flower boxes are in bloom.

I hope you enjoy traveling to Strasbourg with us and maybe this will inspire you to see this city for yourself.

We spent just a few hours here some years back with my mother in law. She was in a wheelchair and pushing her over the cobbles was hard work for Chris, so we didn't see as much as we would have liked - a few interesting streets and the portal of the cathedral. So how lovely to enjoy a virtual visit with you and to learn from your insightful tips and lovely photos! A shame though that your husband was so frustrated in his search for beers
