Glen Ellen: Nestled in the North Napa Valley

Nestled in the northern part of the Napa Valley about six miles northwest of Sonoma at first it is unclear when you arrive in the town. There are no clear markers on Arnold Road. However once you see the the old Chauvet Hotel and the Wolf House Restaurant you know you have arrived.

Glen itself is a mighty small town. It has just under 800 people. It is most well known as being the residence of writer Jack London. The State of California has preserved a portion of the London Estate in a state park. The state park is a gem and contains London's old house, some great trails and the remains of the Wolf House.

The town also has a few wineries the largest being the Benzinger Family Winery. The winery just happens to be on that narrow road which leads up to the state park.

It was my father who passed on to me his love of the Jack London books so I was delighted that on a visit to Napa I spotted the State Park on the map. The route itself was enjoyable but I was so disappointed that we were just too late for admission to the Museum. It looks lovely -thanks for giving me that glimpse.
