Cologne as near perfect as a big German city be. Arriving in the afternoon the main Cologne Train Station is so convenient to every thing! Right across the street is the Colgone Cathedral. Our hotel was less than a five minute walk from the train station. The Sheraton Dom Hotel itself was a wondrous place and see my review for more information.
So first impressions from the train station? Amazing, breathtaking cathedral. Downtown so full of people and vitality not only during the days but also continuously on weekends.

Nice little page - but Hey you missed out on the Lowenbrau pub next door to the Haxenhaus - great beer and sausages - Cologne's specialities (OK Lowenbrau ain't local but...HIC!).
Cologne is a lovely city, I'm glad you enjoyed your trip.
I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to Cologne and don’t want to dampen your enthusiasm, but I think if you had stayed a few days longer and talked to some of your city-planning colleagues they could have showed you some projects that were, let’s say, not optimally planned and carried out. Nonetheless, I agree that Cologne is a nice city to visit – especially by bicycle, as you pointed out in one of your tips.
I like your main picture of your Cologne T-page..........i remember when i was in college i used to draw this cathedral..and when i was reviewing for my lisensure examination this cathedral often part of the question.....more travels to you...:)
