Whitby Town

Whitby Town
Whitby is a small shipping village on the north east coast of england, just off the north yorkshire moors. Whitby is home to the famous explorer Captain James Cook and is part of the trail which follows his life around the north east of england. Whitby is also famous for many other aspects, its Jet jewelry , its abbey, and of course its famous fish and chips. Whitby also inspired bram stoker in his book dracula. The place never loses its charm and has many lovely things to see. Exploring whitby you will experience its wonderful cobbled streets, gothic buildings, aswell as a working maritime town - this place is definalty worth a visit for the day. The town is also a popular point as a stop off for walkers.
Whitby Abbey

Whitby Abbey

One of the most famous sites of whitby is of course its abbey. The abbey is known to be full of history and really is striking. This is certainly worth a visit.
Staithes

Staithes, Runswick Bay

There are also other areas just outside of whitby which are on a smaller scale and will give you a true feel of a traditional fishing village. These are both worth a visit and have some beautiful scenery. The still have retained the old feel and staithes is still infact a working shipping village. If you want somewhere to relax and get away from it all, these are the places. They are also part of the dinosaur coast which means that in amongst the beach and harbour areas there are fun things such as rock pools and the oppurtunity to go fossling and find your own dinosaur bone!

One of my favourite places... you've introduced me to a lot more here that I missed. Loved the Magpie.. don't remember 99's and Parmesans though.. I think I picked up a little of the accent when I was there.:-))
