Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil. I have walked in fortyeight states, nine provinces of Canada, one state of Mexico, and sailed the Bahamas. Most of my travels were in my younger days hitchhiking. I hitched all the interstates, then the US highways, and across Canada several times. Eventually I inherited an old 53 Chevy two ton dump truck and drove that from the Dakotas to North Carolina and from there to Oregon. I drove a succession of vehicles, planted trees in the winter for traveling money, and traveled constantly from 1980 to 1990. That is when I found Southwest Virginia, in my opinion the most beautiful and friendliest place in the United States. I lived there for ten years traveled the East coast intensively and made several trips out west. In 1999 I moved Back to Iowa to be closer to my family. I will travel all the days of my life. |
