Most of travels have been to Spain, Ibiza and Majorca.
When our children were small we spent a lot of summers in Jersey and one camping holiday in France.
I have travelled to England and Scotland a number of times over the years. Not got to Wales yet!

We tend to like sun holidays and go to relax rather than adventure type .

We have stayed in various accommodation and travelled with various travel companies over the years .

We rarely go back to the same hotel when we go on holiday, preferring hotels to self catering .

We have travelled as a family with young children, to a family with grown up children who still enjoy a holiday with us. So over the years our needs and type of holiday have changed .

We have seen changes in the system and in holiday companies and in general over the years.

We have stayed in a number of hotels and hopefully I will be able to help others.

I have been in Benidorm quite a few times and stayed in several hotels, even returning to one ! Not sure I would again though but that is another story,

My visits to Benidorm were all for holidays .
May being the earliest, mid September being the latest and the other times were in June July August.

I have stayed in the Levante an Ricon de Loix areas so can only comment on these and what appeals to us.

The prom at Levante is wonderful . It is smooth straight and wide, comfortable to walk on and disability friendly. There are lots of motability scooters to hire .
The beach is great and long . Sun beds and parasols can be hired . You choose your spot and pay .
There are life guards during the day.

On the prom there is a mix of cafes, bars some shops and hotels. The cafes and bars are open at night and there is lots of music and entertainment of a variety . It is a lovely walk at night.
During the high season special sand castles are made at the prom end of the beach . These are works of art and to photograph them you make a donation . Well worth a look.

Between the prom and the main street there are a maize of little touristy shops selling all sorts. . Beach towels and handbags are good buys.

The market is beside the Peublo hotel It is on on a Wednesday and Sunday from early morning to about 2pm ! There is everything there , fresh fruit and veg clothes shoes in fact you name it it is there.
The market is big and crowded and be prepared to haggle a bit. It is here in particular you must beware of pickpockets (they exist everywhere)
Best buys here we have found have been shoes especially gents leather shoes. tablecloths and pretty baby blankets and unusual pretty knit wear for young children .
The market is a must .

The people tend to be friendly especially if you make an attempt with the language .
I have found walking at night along from the Mcdonalds near hotel Benekitus along the prom safe for a lone woman This was in the early part of the night Never after 10pm

All in all it is a lovely place to be and it is nice to stroll along the prom both day and night .

Most of the hotels are good. Do your homework before booking. Some English people want an hotel which is geared to them solely, and they exist. The food and entertainment will all be English themed with lots of bingo . Others like hotels with minimum child age . !
There are big impersonal hotels and others smaller and more friendly

At the Ricon de Loix area there is jet skiing, and a variety of water sport.

Do watch out for reps and such pressing trips including the Free blanket trip This is a bit of a hard sell trip.

I have saw very few drunk in all my visits and the only lout in all my visits was English !

I have no plans to return this year sadly but I will i enjoy it so much
