Banska Bystrica Travel Guide: 15 reviews and 39 photos

Our town is more than 750 years old and now it counts about 85 - 90 thousands inhabitants.
It is a university town so many young people that are skilled in languages (mostly English, German, French) live here during the shool year. Many students come from other parts of Slovakia.
It is the number of young people that make Banska Bystrica such a lively place. There is plenty of bars, clubs, cafees and restaurants most of them are very good value and quality.
There is also quite a decent number of sites to see, monuments from medieval to present times, galleries, churches, forests and mountains are all around the town...
Huge restorations were made in the old centre of the town - it looks very nice now, but it made our town terribly indebted but I guess no one regrets that.
