Here's the outline plan for this long weekend :
FRIDAY, 6 SEPTEMBER 2013
A nice, relaxed ease into the weekend. A number of the Ooop North Crew have rented a cottage for the weekend, so Friday evening is a BYOB&P job at the cottage (details have been provided to attendees - please contact Gillybob directly).
VisiTors are welcome from 5:00pm until 10:00pm (don't want to annoy the neighbours). It will be a very laid-back affair, we simply ask that you bring your own bottle and plate. We'll be offering Devils on Horseback, chilli prawns and other delights which require that little more preparation but with the selection of shops available in Buxton, you should be able to get a little creative instead of just crisps and dips. To make sure we don't all end up bringing the same 'plate', drop us a line and we'll add it to the menu.
Ricky will be leading the evening's entertainment and asks that each attendee bring with them three gifts, wrapped in Christmas paper, each gift not to exceed £1 in value. So get creative folks, and let's see what he has in mind!!!
SATURDAY, 7 SEPTEMBER 2013
Time to get out into the countryside!
As we're quite a small group, three car owners have generously agreed to be our transpor providers for the day; this will give us freedom to visit our chosen locations.
Alternatively, if you want to catch up with us along the route, you can pick up a Derbyshire Wayfarer ticket at Buxton Tourist Information or from a driver on any of buses which service our route.
* £11.60 for an adult
* £5.80 for a senior citizen (aged 60 or over), a child under 16*, or a holder of a Gold Card or other English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) pass
* £21.00 for a group of up to two adults and up to three children*
We'll be meeting up at the cottage at 09:00 to head out from Buxton no later than 09:30 to Tideswell where we will have around one-and-a-half hours to spend, dependent upon whether people need something to eat.
We're aiming to head out from Tideswell at around 11:30, this time we'll be aiming for Eyam where we'll have around 2 hours to explore this plague village.
Our next section of journey wll take us to view the grounds of Chatsworth House and the surrounding park. It is not intended to make a visit to the House but we may take the opportunity to stop for photos of the great scenery and house.
From here, we head to Bakewell, home of the pudding! We are aiming to be here around 2:30pm and will have a couple of hours to explore and enjoy puddings.
Our final journey will return us to Buxton, with us aiming to depart Bakewell at around 5:00pm.
These timings are all hypothetical as we will by journeying by car and people may wish to take the opportunity to stop along the way if there are events to see. Ultimately, our aim is to be back in Buxton no later than 6:30pm.*
Dinner reservations have been made for 7:30pm at The Old Sun Inn.
SUNDAY, 8 SEPTEMBER 2013
A restful start, so be at The Cottage for 11:00am and we'll take a wander around the beautiful spa town that is Buxton.
Plans for dinner (for those staying on) will be made during the course of the day.
