Negeri Kedah - The Rice Bowl of Malaysia

Kedah sits in the northwest corner of Peninsular Malaysia. The state is fairly small, covering an area of 9,425 sq km that consists mostly of paddy fields, very very flat land indeed. Off its coast are the famous Langkawi Island, mountain of Gunung Jerai (1,200 meters above sea level). Kedah's population of about 1-2million of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Siamese and others minorities.

Negeri Kedah has its share of rich cultural traditions, songs and dances. Due to its close proximity to Thailand, some of these traditions are Thai in influence and origin, and faces of Kedah's people often bear signs of Thai ancestry...just like me!!!

Muzium Diraja sounds interesting. Menara Alor Setar is a midget compared to Menara KL but I bet the views are nice.
