Sir Francis Light, the founder of Penang, who transformed this tiny island of Penang to be well known around the world for its beauty and heritage.
Will write more the history of Penang later
My favourite place in Penang to visit this temple to pray my Grandmother and try my luck in the wheel of fortune.

Nice page!
To tell the truth, visited the island/country some years ago, and great time!
Hi angmimi Lu ai ki hadyai gong hi fatt choy .. I did know little hockkien I m @ Alor star
Your tip on Akad Nikah made the best reading. They also seem to be God sent couple as their names also match Fiza and Farid, beautiful! I have attended many Moslem marriages in India, there is slight difference in Malay/ Indonesian marriage. Here they are little more conservative. The bride and the groom sit separately , separated by a Purdah ( Veil)and the Priest The Moulavi ask the bride first for 3 times if she is ready to accept the person as her husband with Meher amount of such and such,if she says yes then he turns to the groom. The rituals are same but the Malay marriage allows the groom to sit in her front. Oh yes, the groom is not allowed to visit inside the house of the bride before the Nikah! Besides, I was amused to learn about your ancestry!! You belong to the family of the Nobles!!! Wow!!
Toy Museum - ideal for boys of all ages, I guess. The War Museum is a must-see for me, despite its horrors.
Nice to see you made a tip for me Mimi:)
I am actually in Penang right now.
I liked the 1970's pic included in the Botanical Garden tip. Also, a very nice view from the top.
Hmm - Penang looks very much like a place to visit
Very nice page!! Keep it up.
How odd, Ang Mimi - you and I seem to have been writing tips on cenotaphs (albeit in different cities on different continents) at exactly the same time!
Regards
Cathy
