Sagaing Division, just South and West of Mandalay, means to the tourist Sagaing and Mingun, most than anything else. The two are magnificent towns, well worth the visit, where the peaceful life of the central plain rural life may easily be appreciated. The mighty Irrawaddy is wonderfully flowing across the paddy and pigeon peas fields, while fishermen desparately look for their preys among the muddy waters and huge barges carry floating teak and bamboo loads.
