Looking at us from the other side of the mirror. I think a little bit of Africa would be good for everybody, even better if it's Sub-Saharian Africa. Needless to say, I don't mean "touristic villages" and 5-star hotels' Africa, but rural Africa, where most of the people live, where they have to fight for their daily food. Hundreds of millions of Africans are still years away from Internet, from Universities, from airports and airplanes, even from tourists. But, they are not immune from the bad effects of globalisation: patented seeds, farmlands, export crops, bio-pirates.... all of these are living menaces to the way of life people built along centuries of face to face confrontation with hostile environment, with ecological limits, with scarce transport, with colonial powers reshaping their territories and even their culture.
So: GO to real Africa, listen to its voice and let the people explain their point of view. It's very interesting. ..... and be patient. While "stupid" urban settlers may survive, "stupid" famers died long ago. |
