Favorite Thing: San Marco - not just a church, nor a simple symbol of power..... this church has an overwhelming spirit which ties you to the ancient times when the Venetian ships went here and there along the Adriatic sea and the eastern Meditarranean and they always felt like being at home!

It is very sad to read your comment on dying Venice. Two years ago, I noticed a number of shops owned by non Italians. To me that was a sign that the locals could no longer afford the costs. It gave Venice a completely different flavor. Good page. | ettenaj Fri May 21, 2004 12:59 UTC
