I know it is not easy to enjoy holidays in the right period, but Venezia might be a real nightmare for visitors who arrive there during the typical invasion periods: July-August-Carnaval. Venezia is an unchangeable romantic place whwre you need to be able to relax, walking, talking, being ready for a surprise at any corner, getting lost without having to meet any schedule, change your initial plan every now and then, listen to your inner spirit.... it's not easy doing that if you're immersed in a wave of yelling people, flashing, chatting, eating. I try to set my feet in Venezia on every occasion my job brings me somewhere near there, even half an hour will be a food for my soul. My best experience were in autumn, under a pouring rain when I awas definitely the only visitor daring to walk/run/fly along the streets, bridges and passages of an apparently ghost town; and then in winter: a very cold bunch pf days in January , with heavy fog involving the sea, the people and the houses in one unseparable cotton universe. |

ForestqueenNYC Fri Aug 5, 2005 13:02 UTC It is very sad to read your comment on dying Venice. Two years ago, I noticed a number of shops owned by non Italians. To me that was a sign that the locals could no longer afford the costs. It gave Venice a completely different flavor. Good page. | ettenaj Fri May 21, 2004 11:59 UTC I went to Venice as a child but will always remember it. | ukirsari Wed Feb 11, 2004 04:18 UTC Absolutely acqua alta and I read "pericolo dicrolo" :) Nice page Andrea, grazieeeeee ..... | littlesam1 Wed Oct 9, 2002 12:26 UTC Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
