Built to be the Capital

by lichinga - last update: Aug 6, 2003

.. and far away from real life.

University of S.Africa - Pretoria
Peacefully lying over the round hills 50 km North of busy Johannesburg, Pretoria has been built to be the Capital - maybe that was even the intent of Mr. Pretorius himself when he decided to start it a bit less than 200 years ago.
Beside the Governement office - see the famous Union Building, seat of the President - there's little to visit in Pretoria. Spending the week-end may turn out to be a sort of a nightmare, if you do not want to end out wandering in the commercial centres.
