.... overrated, surely. Casablanca is very close to the most important international airport of Morocco, but the city itself is not very important by a tourist point of view. Sure, you may visit Hassan II Mosque, which is one of the very few where non-Muslims are admitted to enter. But the Mosque is a modern one, its cost reached 3 billions Dirhams (15 Million Euro) and we heard complains from Moroccan people that the money would have been better spent to fight against illiteracy, whose rate is incredibly high (60%) for a country with such a level of development. If I should take into consideration the situation I noticed in the rural areas, I would agree! |
