San Cristobal de la Habana: this is the full original name of the city which is commonly known with the name of its province! Ask a Cuban where is "La Habana", and they'll ask you if you mean "Ciudad de la Habana", while the rest is the (badly considered) surrounding province.
I've been there several times and, of course, I love that place, but... there are lots of "but's". First of all, please, don't be so naive as to believe all that glitter is gold, life, and I mean "survival", is NOT an easy job for most of the population, in the cities as well as in the countryside, a bunch of US$ can make the difference between starving and buying some pounds of rice and a few pieces of chicken. I'll write more about that, as soon as possible - and this may mean plenty of time!
