The most amazing thing I felt while in SP this summer is the white night.
At midnight, the sun is still slowing setting, resulting in one of the most beautiful skyline I have ever seen....
If you stay next to the river like me, you can enjoy this view right from your hotel window from 10pm until 2 am.... every night !!
WIth a cold beer and some snacks, its truely a great place to enjoy your supper after a day of hard travelling!! |
| | Winter Palace A place not to be miss!!
This is the most expensive toursit destination in SP ( highest entrance fee). But I truely think this is worth it!!
You can spend a few days just wandering around the winter palace admiring at everything you see.
The Jordan Staircase is the centre piece of the winter palace and its truely spectacular!!! |
The Church on Spilled Blood This is SP's version of the St Basil in Moscow.
Within walking distance from the winter palace, this cathedral is truely a great piece of art.
The interior is just as remarkable as the exterior and is definately worth a visit (as well as the huge entrance fee). | | |

| Pros: | "Beautiful" | | Cons: | "Too much like Europe (unlike Moscow which has a certain Russian feeling to it..)" | | In A Nutshell: | "Reminds me of Vienna but everybody speaks Russian :P" |
