From Healthrow, I will recommend the subway as its good and cheap.
From Gatewick, the best will be to take the express train.

Pros:
Its cheap, fast and gets you to almost every tourist sites you want to go. Be sure to purchase the daily ticket instead of buying single trip tickets.
Its also friendly for the disabled.
Cons:
Its hot, stuffy and sometimes tends to stop for a while inbetween stations (thats when it gets hotter and more stuffy).
