"Classroom Travels...Home of O'Barney!" Classroomtravels's Profile
Hi from Classroomtravels 2011/2012
Hello from all at classroomtravels. We are the newest group of children to take over the classroomtravels VT page. Thank you to last years class for starting this VT page and for all their hard work - Check the Personal Album "Classroomtravels 2010/2011" for memories :(
We are now looking forward to learning things from all around the world. We are proud to take over the classroomtravels page from last years class and hope we make as many nice friends as they did. This is all so new to us and we hope that we can do a good job as shepherds to O'Barney!
- Native American proverb
Hello and welcome to classroom travels. This page is all about our travels, places we have been, things we have seen and people we have met. We hope to share our travel memories and information on places we have visited and learned about in class.
Australia Week
This week we are going to be learning all about Australia. We got presents from our friends Aussie Barney and Marg in Australia and we want to learn all about Australia now, especially about the cute koalas and kangaroos. Later in the week we will set up an Australia page about all we have learnt. Check back later!
Hallowee'en Pumpkin
We had great fun in school for Hallowe'en. The pumpkins in our garden were ready just in time and we picked them and our teacher carved scary faces in them. We made pumpkins from paper mache too!!
Congratulations to Ellie who won the competition in Mr. Simm's Sweet Shop to decorate and design the best sweet bag. Her bag was so colourful and bright and a little bit spooky too!
CHECK OUR ALBUMS FOR NEW PICS AND NEWS!!!
O'Barney
Céad Míle Fáilte (A Hundred Thousand Welcomes) to O'Barney who has just touched down in Ireland and has come to live with us in Ireland. O'Barney is the newest member of the Barney family and we are very lucky to have been made his shepherds and shepherdesses!
Our mural in the school garden is coming along very nicely and should be finished in a week or two...we will post a picture soon. We also planted pumpkin seeds in our garden and they should be ready for Hallowe'en!
We have a new member of the Barney family! He arrived on Monday from VT headquarters in America and we think he came with President Obama on Airforce One because we got him on Tuesday and the President was here on Monday! We dressed Irish Barney up and it is a boy. His name is O'Barney and he is looking forward to meeting his brothers AussieBarney, AsiaBarney, EuroBarney, BarneyUK and AmericanBarney.
He is very shy but loves his new clothes. He is already great friends with Professor...our class teddy and Little Irwin from Australia. We have him in the class right now and he is going on his first trip to England with Abby next week even though we only got him yesterday. We are really lucky to have our own Barney - John Joe aged 7
The Newest Member of the Barney Family
Calling all Barney brothers all over the world. The newest member of the Barney family is O'Barney and he lives here in Ireland with us in our classroom. Congratulations AussieBarney, AsiaBarney, EuroBarney, BarneyUK and AmericanBarney...you have a new brother and his name is O'Barney. I would like BarneyUK to know that O'Barney is coming to visit Luton next week on a trip with me and I can't wait to show him around. He is dressed up in a leprechaun jacket and has a big Irish hat! Thank you VT for sending Barney to live with us. Thank 'ewe' from everybody in classroomtravels. We are all really happy. Baa Baa - Abby aged 7
This is 'Professor'. Professor teaches us all about the world. He knows lots of interesting facts about the world. He told us that you will never see a penguin and a polar bear together...except in a zoo! Polar Bears only live in the Arctic and Penguins live in the Antarctic.
Professor is back from a great trip to Holland. Tom took him to visit Amsterdam on a family trip in March and Professor told us all about Amsterdam especially about the canals, wooden clogs, cheese and tulips!
Over Easter, Professor went on a trip to Scotland with Amy. He loved the castle in Edinburgh and the statue of Greyfriar's Bobby!
We go to school in Scoil Mhuire, Abbeyside, Co. Waterford in Ireland. We are lucky to live in such a beautiful place as we have lovely beaches, big mountains, waterfalls, rivers and woods nearby so there is always plenty to see and do.
Our school is very close to the sea and we have a lovely beach close to our school which we visit when the weather is good.
22 children in our class have been to other countries and we have all visited lots of interesting places in Ireland too.

Hello, 1st Class of 2011/ 2012. My name is Fergy and I am originally from Belfast in Northern Ireland although I live in London now when I am not travelling which I am lucky enough to do a lot of. I am witing this from an island called Negros in the Philippines which is just about on the other side of the world from Ireland. Perhaps you can look it up or your teacher can show you ona map where it is. It is a very interesting place and very beautiful although we had an earthquake here a while ago which was very frightening.
I am sure you will do a very good job of looking after O'Barney and keeping the VT page up to date, you really are very lucky. I did not even have a computer when I was your age. If you want to aske me any questions about where I have travelled please get your teacher to send me a VT mail, I would be happy to talk to you.
Many of the VT members follow your activities with great interest, I think yu must be the only class on VT out of over one million members!
Work hard and enjoy school and it will soon be the summer holidays.
Fergy.
Happy New Year from Marg and AussieBarney in Australia. Hey have you heard of Elvis Presley...we are going to the Festival in Parkes N.S.W. next week
A merry Christmas to our favorite VT'ers in Dungarvan! Are any of you going to be traveling over your holiday?
Hello Dear Classroomtravels.....second class. You are cute and darling little Irish children and are dear to my heart. My mother was Irish and I taught school (5th grade) for several years. So, I know I will enjoy hearing of your adventures. I find it intersting that 5 of you have already been to the United States of America. I hope that someday all of you will visit. Welcome and take good care of O'Barney!!!! :-)
Hello Class 2011-2012. A baa baa welcome. And I see you have your Aussie badges and flags. And what a great photo of you all.I am putting this class photo on my pages now.
