Umerkot is a small city in Southern Region of Pakistan situated in Sind Province along the Thar desert and is considered to be one of the oldest cities in this region. The hallmark of Umerkot are Umerkot fort and birthplace of King Akber who later became the forefather of whole Mughal dynasty built.
Myself, Muzammil, Abdullah Shujaat moved from Karachi on 5-Nov-11 and reached the same day at Umerkot. Thanks to hospitality of Faiasal Farooq who acually studied in Karachi at NEDUET and is a resident of Umerkot with a stong fiancial background he good place to host us. So we stayed with me for almost 1 day and 1 night. Highlights of the tour was a detour into Thar desert on the evening of our arrival and we captured some beautiful moments of sunset there. Next morning we paid a visit to Umerkot fort and Meuseum, take shots of sunsire and meusuem, had a tasty delicious breakfast, did some shopping of local handicraft. We started our journey back to Karachi in Muzammil's Cultus that proved to be strong enough to bear the pains of bad roads in Sind. Next day was Eid-ul-Azha so we had to rush a bit and successfully reached Karachi till 9pm on 6th November. Overall it was quick but worth travelling good trip.

Umerkot Fort

Although Umerkot Fort is not in its best condition but still its outer huge wall and few remains are good to watch... It is also famous due to a local tale that once upon a time the ruler Umer abducted a beautiful lady named Marvi and kept her there to force her to marry with him but she didnt. Later on Umer felt pity for him and released the lady safely...... Fort also has a museum that contains some old transcripts of Mughal era and coins too.

Thar Desert and Nangar Parkar

If one has time to explore, near by Thar desert and the city of Nangarparkar is worth exploring. We did a little detour in Thar desert and watched sunset there that was pleasant.
