"Small village on Cebu - Moalboal" Moalboal by gabyne

Moalboal Travel Guide: 20 reviews and 38 photos

In 1998, we have been to Moalboal, a small village known for good diving on the west coast of the island of Cebu.

Cebu and neighbouring Negros are divided by a small strait where the dive spots are situated.

In 1998, before the big "El Nino", the diving was very nice; the corals were in good condition which is not the same in other parts of the Philippines where lots of dynamite fishing has been practised. However I have heard that the reefs suffered a lot from the global warming... :-(

There were quite few fish, especially big ones are very rare. But the corals and smaller fish werevvery colourful and made the diving very pleasant.

There's a very nice beach called White Beach, but it's not directly in Moalboal or Panagsama Beach, where most of the resorts are located.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:good diving, not much tourism
  • Cons:a bit boring for a longer stay....
  • In a nutshell:A lot of nature above and over water
