The Capital of the Provincie of the same name, Groningen is a very vibrant city. Known as a university town, my first lasting impression was the energy of the city and the very active nightlife. |
Our first day of driving By the time we got off the Afsluitdijk, we decided to bypass Leeuwarden and head to Groningen via the N31, going by Drachten and then back on the A7. This ended our first day of driving adventure. We went from Amsterdam to Groningen. |
| | Young or Old? Although Groningen can be called a young town with more than half of it’s population under 35 and the presence of modern architecture, it hasn’t lost its historical charm.
Groningen's claim to fame however is the fact that it has been chosen as the 'world's best bicycling city'. If you wish to do cycling here, you can find route maps at http://holland.cyclingaroundtheworld.nl/. |
