DARWIN

Darwin not founded until 1869, the territory's capital. The biggest historical influences have been the 2nd world war when the bombing of Darwin by the japanese took place in February 1942 and again in 1974 when cyclone Tracey arrived to destroy much of the city on the night of Christmas Eve. Winds peaked at up to 280kms/hr leaving only 400 odd houses out of 11,200 relatively intact. Today the city is a great place to visit with it's unique wildlife along with stunning vistas and not to mention warm weather all year round.

I visit Darwin often to see my nephews and family and each time there is always somewhere I want to see. The list keeps going on, so as I venture to new places I will add them to these pages. I hope you enjoy the scenery.

Pros and Cons

Pros:great weather and stunning vistas, laid back people
Cons:very humid and can be uncomfortable during the wet
