Lu Kung

by Burtty - last update: Oct 16, 2003

Traditional Taiwanese Houses
Lu Kung had its glory past. In an old Taiwanese proverb, Lukung was said as the second properous city in Taiwan next to Tainan but superior to Taipei. It was an important harbor between Central Taiwan and China then. Lu Kung is now a small town with many histrical and traditional houses due to its glory past. However many of the old houses are broken now due to the their ages and the recent earthquake. I saw many old buildings were torn down while some living old ones were mixed with the newly built ones.

I love the old temples and I'm glad they are preserving them. so its 'follow the red brick walls' not yellow brick road:-) Some great tips. That jar wall is quite something.

Great pictures and info! I really enjoy visiting the old town of Lukang. Did you try the cow tongues when you were there?
