The town of Ano Syra stands on the hill of Saint Georges (Agios Georgios). Climbing up to the numerous steps and strolling around the amazing backstreets, it's a unique experience.

Ano Syra

Inside the settlement of Ano Syra you will not see any vehicle because the backstreets are very narrow and with steps.
The distance from the port to the entrance of the town is 3500m.
There used to be 7 gates to the city. Nowadays, they exist only 3.

Ano Syra

At the top of the settlement stands the Catholic church of Saint Georges. The first building was probably made in 1200 and the new renovated in 1834.
