    • PERCHESKAYA LAVRA is the monestary of the caves...so dug as to be able to worship and not be arrested during the time of Russian occupation when religion was officially forbidden.Walking into the caves is a bit scary...as there are some twists and turns and an occaisional mummified monk..I am hoping these were fake,,,but who knows??

    • There was a mystical aire inside the chrch proper.The entire upper cathedral above the caves was as ornate as anything ive seen in the Ukraine...guilded artwork abounded..like the picture ive provided.

    Directions: This monument commemeorates the founding of KIEV, Notice the distictly Norse style boat. I learned this year through a PBS National Geographic Special that the Norsemen were indeed the founders of KIE
