L'VIV has occupied a special status in Ukraine historically.Unlike many cities in the Ukraine, when the Russians occupied the country for 70 years, L'viv still had its own army and was basically left alone...the City is known for its fierce loyaylty and love for its culture, architecture and history.

LViV has a vitality that is impressive. Even when they were occupied by Russia they resisted intensively the Russification of their city an I found it evidenced in the energy and pride that seeme dto pervade the atmoshere in the city itself. Lviv was part of Poland for much of its history and the architecture had an ornateness I found nowhere else in the Ukraine. Lviv...has style! NO concrete Russian monolithic buildings here.Just STYLE.
