Luggage And Bags: Lets face it. Youre on the road and seasoned travellers know not to pack TOO heavily. That sweatsuit doubles as PJs, some T-shirts get worn alot and dress shoes may never get worn. I toted dress shoes for 2 months, wore them 4x and tossed them in the trash the last day because I didnt want to pack them. Shoulda left them home. Hey, youre on a travelling adventure, not a fashion show. If you have to pack an extra pair of shoes..make it comfortable sneakers.
You know youre with a travel novice if you hear complaints like you didnt bring PJs or that you arent doing laundry EVERY day.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: SPB is one of the northernmost cities in Europe. I am from Florida and the summer was colder than my winter! It also rained at some point in the day 80% of the time I was there(in Finland it rained 18 days straight!) Most people arent from the tropics like I am but trust me...summers arent very warm. It got above 74 degrees 2x in 2 months. Mostly it was LOW 60s.
Toiletries & Medical Supplies: Pack meds and tioletries that you like and make you feel comfortable. SPB has many products Europe has but good luck reading the directions in cyrillic and good luck finding them.
Photo Equipment: All the pictures that were taken were somehow fogged and ruined at the photo store in SPB. hence...I have NO pics. next time I will wait untill I get home to develop them. What am I saying...next time I will use a digital camera LOL
Miscellaneous: You only need to spend 10 hours walking around in 60 degree rainy weather to WISH you had packed that umbrella($1 in USA) or poncho or extra sweatshirt.
