I cannot say ENOUGH about Budapest. In 1993 I was touring/performing with a gospel group and we went to Budapest to rest up after touring Ukraine, Bosnia and Helsinki. I never expected to go there. I never wanted to go there. NOW I CANT GET BUDAPEST OFF MY MIND!! The bridges, the churches, the food, the baths, the monuments, the parks and the Danube River are all etched in my memory. Budapest is no single thing...Budapest is a package..from St Stephens to the Chain Bridge to the parks and the Danube you just cannot go wrong..it is a visual feast!
I took a tram to Verislegiet Park, At the entrance was a HUGE grand scale tribute to Hungarys War heroes..... a vast sweeping square containing huge statues of Hungary's heroes and famous people.
Look familiar? It should. The Hungarians so respected the British legal system and the British Parliament they built a near replica on the Danube River!
- Pros:its romantic & quite inexpensive compared to most European Capitals
- Cons:you may not want to leave
- In a nutshell:charming and inviting

Thank you ! We went to Budapest in 1985 on our honeymoon and I love the city so much I hav never dared go back. But we will on eday. Lovely pictures.
