The Acropolis is the focal point of any stay in Athens.Having weathered 2,500 years of wars and the odd siege/occupation or two...the sacred mount was not fairing as well against modern-age pollution/sulferous rain had tarnished the structures untill a few years ago UNESCO got involved.
It still remains an awesome and humbling tribute to the glory of Greece and it is revered by Greeks everywhere.
And...BRAVO ATHENS for the great job done on the 2004 Olympics!!!!! |

The THEATER OF DIONYSUS was carved out of the side of the mount..inasmuch as I am an actor...It was quite a humbling experience to realise that Aristophanes was doing stand up comedy on that very spot only a couple of thousand years before...(bada-boom!) | | |
