Paris...picture perfect

by Michael_D - last update: Nov 27, 2006

France is the country Ive seen most. While living in Barcelona one summer I crossed it north/south three times and west/east four times by train. I did it in 1985 2 times each way by motorhome and hitched it another two times after that....every time you wanted to go to Nice...London...Italy...Amsterdam..Switzerland..by default you get to see France again. C'est la vie...its not such a bad thing...France is the largest country in Europe and Paris may well be the most beautifull city as well. As in many European countries the capitol city is the showcase of the country....but in the case of PARIS...its style and panache make it a showcase to the world..its a bit saucy..and a bit naughty at times...behind its pompous "attitude" of grandeur...it really is a tease...
TOUR de FRANCE 2005
1 Lance ARMSTRONG USA DSC
2 Ivan BASSO ITA CSC
3 Jan ULLRICH GER TMO
4 Francisco MANCEBO ESP IBA
5 Alexandre VINOKOUROV KAZ TMO
6 Levi LEIPHEIMER USA GST
7 Mickael RASMUSSEN DEN RAB
8 Cadel EVANS AUS DVL
9 Floyd LANDIS USA PHO
10 Oscar PEREIRO ESP PHO
11 Christophe MOREAU FRA C.A
12 Yaroslav POPOVYCH UKR DSC
13 Eddy MAZZOLENI ITA LAM
14 George HINCAPIE USA DSC

Lance won his SEVENTH Tour de France and I was fortunate to have attended the last 3 Tours. This one was oddly enough the easiest one for Lance though it was obvious the 2005 tour was meticulously designed EXPRESSLY to make it harder than ever for the American phenom. He won anyway.

2,000mi, over 3 weeks, up hills my CAR had a hard time climbing...beginning and ending with an individual time trial...and a drug test the 1st DAY given to no other rider but Lance!(nice try TDF)

GOD bless Lance and GOD bless the DISCOVERY TEAM.

With the TDF coming up I again was thinking about you, and yes, the J.Ulrich-case & Co. is such a shame if true. Thank you for greeting me. Maria

Thanks for the comments & ratings on my Paris page! Yours is pretty good too. For myself, though, the Alps are a little too far off the beaten path do see while in Paris! :)
