This was my sixth visit to London, so I thought I knew pretty much the main touristy things to do. This past December trip though, we got a river cruise with the city bus tour, and I loved it! It gave such a different perspective on the city, and how London became the center it was, based upon the River Thames. Not only did I gain a new appreciation for the city that I love so much, but it is a great new view of some of the main landmarks!!

I have been dying, for years to get to this place. I read a biography of Geogiana, the Duchess of Devonshire and it peaked my interest in this house. However, it is only open to visitors on Sundays, and you are only allowed to take the tour with a guide through the house. It absolutely did not disappoint. This is a 'state home' with the greatest opulence, brilliant restoration, and amazing history. It seemed a little pricey for a roughly 1 hour visit(7 or 9 pounds!!), but well worth it. The house can be used for 'state occasions' or other hoity toity events, which is why it is only open on Sundays. Its a neat, off-the-regular-tourist-track attraction that I would highly recommend if you are in London on a Sunday afternoon.
