Chased It...............................GOT IT....

I'm back to tell the story of my Bacolod travel...........

A day before i leave for the Masskara festival....I'm hesitant......(yeah that's correct.......)what should I expect?...this is my first travel....that i don't have a travel itenerary.......I will just go with the flow.....I told myself......there's Buena (she's from Bacolod and she's the boss....hahhaahhhaahah)

I am hesitant...........will i see the places I listed before............. that I want to see?........Will Buena accompany me to the festival...? for I know that time.......... she was busy doing her thesis.......

But.....as I look back......on the whole hit and run travel (that's what i call it......)......All I can say is that i had a Blast................:)

Everything turned out to be just I would want my Bacolod trip to be.........:)

On chasing the MASSKARA festival 2011....what else Can I say...........Chased it.......GOT.....it......:)*

MassKara FESTIVAL

MassKara is a festival held each year in Bacolod City, Capital of Negros Occidental Province here in the Philippines every third week of the month of October nearest October 19, the city's Charter Inauguration Anniversary.

The festival first begun in the 1980's when the whole city was suffering from pain/heartbreak (brought by the sinking of the ship Don Juan, which took the life many Negrense's including those belonging to the prominent families, an estimated of about 700 people died) and the financial crisis that hit the then Province (It's main product "sugar" was at all time low during the period due to the introduction of sugar substitutes in the United States).

In the middle of this local government, city's artist and civic groups decided to hold a "festival of smiles". They reasoned that the said festival will be a good opportunity to pull the residents out of the gloomy atmosphere. The initial festival was therefore, a decaration by the people of the city that no matter how tough and bad the times were, Bacolod City is going to rise again and triumph

The word MassKara means "Multitude of Smiling Faces". A prominent feature of the festival is the mask worn by participants. The word is also a pun on Maskara, the filipino term for "Mask"..............................................................(source: Wikepedia)
