Lakes and mountains in a set!

At the lake
Hi and welcome to one of the nice Swiss cities! Lucerne is situated at the "Vierwaldtstätter See". One of the famous Swiss lakes. Lucerne itself is a good place to go shopping. Or take a boattrip over the lake.

I have been in Lucerne several times. The first trip was in 1996 were we visited the most International Rowing Regatta at the Rotsee....a must see for rowers, as itīs the most important race in a year....and itīs a great scenery as well. Most pics here are from this journey.

The last rowing journey to Lucerne took me there in 98 for the "Lake Crossing Race".... We stayed in Stans, a little town near Lucerne. The race was pretty hard, as it last over 12 km! Itīs very well known in Switzerland and it was an honour to take part. I was coxing fortunately :) It was fun, even if we werenīt successful. After the race we had two other days and one day we went hiking up to the Stanser Horn...Have a look at my travelogue, there are some great pics from above!
Olaf Tufte from Norway

Rowing at the Rotsee

Every year the last rowing world cup before the world championships is held on the Rotsee in Lucerne and the last tickets are given to the athletes. Itīs one of the biggest professionals rowing regattas in Europe, as nearly rowers from all over the world take part.... and itīs held at the beautiful Rotsee lake, in between green hills. Just worth avisit. Itīs always held in July....

On the pic is Norwegian single skull champ Olaf Tufte, getting lost between the boats....

Yummy Swiss cheese

What is better than having a picnic at the river Reuss or the Vierwaldstaetter lake with some bread and some good Swiss cheese like Gruyere for example. This is my absolute favourite amongst all cheeses of the world and you donīt even need a good Swiss Army knife to eat it....
Enjoy your meal
