I spend two years living in Melbourne (2004-2006) and loved it. i only moved back to my home town to be closer to my family. I use to work in the Melbourne CBD. My first year I lived in South yarra (a few streets away from Chapel Street). Chapel Street is great for shopping and drinking. I was introduced to my first drag show upon a visit to Chapel Street not long after my arrival to melbourne. The bar is called Diva, and i must say I loved it. i also spent alot of time at Strike Bowling Bar. I must say shots and bowling is great combination.
In my second year i moved further out to a place called Murrumbeena. I guess it was sandwiched between Caulfield (as in Caulfield racecourse) and Chadstone (as in Chadstone Shopping Centre)
Melbourne has an amazing transport system. A few weeks after moving to Melbourne I sent my car home, because it was just not needed. I used trains and trams. You can buy daily, weekly or monthly passes which cover both. I worked in the CBD and parking was very expensive but the trams were very reliable. Pass can be bought from an office in the Town hall.
1) The theatre. i love musical theatre and caught as many shows as I could. Some shows even sell discounted tickets on the day from an office called halftix thats located at Town hall
2) St Kilda- being close to the water, walking pass Luna park and seeing all the pastry displays in the shop windows
3) Lygon Street 'Little Italy' Carlton for amazing Italian food
4) Walking chocolate tour (Did this tour when i went back to visit last year)
- Pros:Friendly people, culture, social scene
- Cons:Weather, AFL
