La Jolla: LA JOLLA
  • Tip Rating:
  • One morning for breakfast we went to La Jolla, one of the coastal towns north of San Diego. It's a pleasant little town full of shops and rather expensive cafes, with an impressive view of the ocean and definitely a good side trip from San Diego.

  • If you are coming up the I5 from San Diego you pass by a church which looks like Cologne Cathedral built in "Plattenbauweise" (Socialist Building)... that's the Mormon Temple in La Jolla which suddenly made me realise that the cathedrals of Liverpool aren't the ugliest churches in the world!

I beg to differ with you. I drove by this church for the first time yesterday and was stunned! I could not believe how beautiful this church was. Not gothic by any means.

Enjoyed your impressions of San Diego! Looks like you had a pretty good time even in the June Gloom.
