Any excuse for a VT drink Hofbräuhaus Review

Fondest memory: Before I went to Munich for New Years 05/06 I was talking to Andrey ('bugulma' on VT) about meeting up there. I was thinking of showing him around a bit. The day before we actually met then we were still thinking of showing him around a bit. Then we met on 2 January 2006 - my first VT meeting of the new year. In the morning I was still thinking of showing him around. It was snowing when I left Thomas' house, but not too bad. On the way to meet Andrey I changed my mind. In town it was terrible, a mixture of rain and snow came out of extremely grey clouds. I walked from Stachus to Marienplatz and was completely soaked. It was terrible!

I was happy that Andrey had apparently seen the whole of Munich the day and the morning before and we went straight to Augustiner to have beer and Weisswurst. Afterwards a long time and quite a few beers we were talking about a sightseeing walk again. We wanted to go to Viktualienmarkt. As soon as we were there we all agreed that the day was a perfect day for staying inside. So we went to Hofbraeuhaus, after all that's kinda like indoor sightseeing. ;-) It was 4 pm, when we got here. I think it was 8 pm when we left. What was officially named "A quick look into the biggest tourist trap" turned out to be a funny afternoon with Bavarian music, lots of peoplewatching and many litres of beer!!! As soon as we came out the rain had stopped. We still went to the next pub where Andrey was the only one who still ordered a beer.....

A funny company trip

Fondest memory: Every year my company goes on a trip to a place where one of our team members is from. This year we spent a weekend in and around Munich. We went to Kloster Andechs, went on a boat trip on Ammersee, enjoyed the local nightlife and the local breakfasts and finally everyone but me climbed the roof of the Olympic stadium. Of course we didn't have time enough to see everything so I was happy that I was there two days earlier than the others which left Munich without having been to Englischer Garten ;-)

Meeting Richie and Doreen

Fondest memory: Richie was one of the first people I talked to on VT I think. That's about 4 years ago. So far we had never had (past perfect, Richie ;) the chance to meet up so when I heard that he was living in Munich now and I knew that this year's company trip would be to Munich I took the chance and booked a flight for two days before the company trip started. Luckily he had the chance to take two days off from work and Doreen wasn't working all the time either so I spent the most wonderful and funny days with the two of them enjoying the beergardens and bookshops of Munich. Thanks for everything and hope to see you around here soon!

TV show memories

Fondest memory: The day my rowing club competed in the German sports gameshow Power Play. My body still hurts from riding the electric bull I think. Unfortunately my pictures of this day were stolen so I have no proof that I did it ;-) (The picture here is taken from my rowing club's newsletter - the only picture I had from this fantastic day!)

It was amazing what kind of questions brought our team close to a big embarrassment, including 'How many rowers are there in a rowing eight?'. Answer: 'Ach... ääähm neun'. HAHAHA it was close!!
